Wolf Facts
Wolf Chat
Ever seen a wolf in a weird-like stance? Learn about those here.
If you see a wolf...
Smiling = It means, "I didn't mean it!"
Exposing its teeth and growling = It often means "lay down."
Glaring back while walking away = "Stay there."
Biting another wolf's chin = They're respecting that wolf.
Rolling over and exposing its belly = It's surrendering.
In a stretching position (don't know what I'm talking about? Watch a cat after it naps, and it'll usually take this stance) = It's bowing.
Whimpering = If the mother does it, she's doing it to calm the pups.
Squeaking = It's calling the pups.
Misc. Facts
Gray wolves are also called "Canis lupus".
Most wolf packs usually contain six or seven members.
The parent leaders are called alphas...alpha males, alpha females.
Pups under two years of age do not aquire permanent positions (jobs that older wolves do to help the pack).
Sometimes pups playfight to see who will be the top wolf when they are older.
Wolves will freely look other animals in the eye.
